What is a Delegation of Parental Authority?
If you are a parent with minor children, there may come a time when a temporary delegation of parental authority is appropriate. Michigan law allows a parent to temporarily transfer legal authority for a child to another individual. Most often this may be used if parents are planning a vacation a great distance away or for a significant period of time, when it might be important for a non-parent to be able to seek emergency medical care or otherwise provide for the care of the child. This delegation can last no longer than 180 days and may be revoked at any time. This document must be properly executed to be effective. Zolton Law Offices can assist you with proper preparation and execution of this document if the need should arise with your family.
