Who will take care of our kids when we go on vacation?
How many parents fret and concern themselves with the “what-ifs” when they leave their young children at home? They either never leave on vacations or they worry during the trip. I remember when my wife and I went to New York City years ago to visit friends. Our son was probably 2 years old at the time and we were feeling awkward leaving him. We knew in our hearts that he was safe with his grandparents, but worry is just what parents do. He did fine, although immediately after we left for the short vacation he got a cold and fever. Michigan law allows a parent to appoint a guardian of a minor for up to 180 days. The document may then be retrieved by the parent when they return from their vacation. These are relatively straightforward documents. Our firm charges $50 for such documents.
